Plan Bay Area 2040 Open Houses This Week in Santa Clara, San Mateo, Napa, Solano and Sonoma Counties
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) invite the public to attend any of five open houses to be held this Wednesday and Thursday in San Jose, San Mateo, Napa, Fairfield and Santa Rosa to learn about Plan Bay Area 2040, an update to the region’s long-range transportation and housing roadmap.
Two open houses will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at:
- Berryessa Community Center, 3050 Berryessa Road, San Jose
- San Mateo County Event Center, Event Pavilion, 1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo.
Three open houses will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7 at:
- Napa Elks Lodge, 2840 Soscol Avenue, Napa
- Hilton Garden Inn, 2200 Gateway Court, Fairfield
- Friedman Center, 4676 Mayette Avenue, Santa Rosa.
Bay Area residents will have the opportunity to view displays and offer comments on long-term goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars and light-duty trucks, house the Bay Area’s projected 2040 population, improve public health, maintain the region’s transportation infrastructure and preserve open space, among others. Displays will also feature the schedule and key milestones for the Plan Bay Area update, offer information on how new housing and employment is forecast, and provide information on transportation improvements in the works at the county and regional level.
This week’s meetings are part of a series of open houses in all nine Bay Area counties that began April 29 and will continue through May 28. The first two open houses in Pleasanton and Walnut Creek attracted more than 130 interested residents.
